About a movie ... or two !

Peepli Live
Guys, starting straight from the point, the movie that I wish to talk about is Peepli Live. I know most of you like that movie but to tell you the truth, I didn't like it. I was not feeling at ease after watching it.

Now all of you might be thinking what a stupid guy. He didn't like such a great movie blah blah etc. etc. Let me make it clear that the movie has great direction, acting, storyline, screenplay and theme. The reason I didn't like this movie is because I felt ashamed, angry and really sad after watching the story portrayed in it. The subtle side stories, like that of the guy who keeps on digging the earth in spite of all the ho-halla going on or that of the ethical and sensitive journalist.

This was not an eye opener movie for me. I knew most of the crap filled in Indian Media. Just search who's related to who in youtube and you'll see some amazing bhai-bhatijawaad. Media is filled with bias and everybody knows this. What makes me sad was the fact that a person can't work honestly, showing unbiased facts without compromising on his principles. One can't show the truth - TRPs and shit! What the Delhi based journalist tells our "sensitive" reporter that if you can't handle or accept the way journalism works, maybe you are in wrong profession was truly apt.

Can you recollect the scene in which a local leader goes to meet Naththa and gives him a colour TV to relive his sorrow. This was a sarcastic way to show how politicians and even the general public is ignorant of the need of the people. I use "general public" also because no one I spoke to noticed the sarcasm in the movie.

The overwhelming emotion while watching the movie was that of helplessness. I tried to think of a way to free my country from such things. But I couldn't think of anything worthwhile - apart from writing this blog entry and to be true to myself.

I am writing this entry just in the hope that maybe there are people who share similar thoughts with me and can help my country to be a better place to live. I mean they could have done better then giving Naththa a lal bahadur.

A great movie with breath taking special effects, full of emotions and a sexy scene too. I think every body liked it and enjoyed the movie. BUT (there is always a but) .....

Let me ask you how many could correlate this to a major act of injustice going on in India? Can you think of one? Nope, right. Well let me broaden your horizon. Does encroaching, mining, native, etc. ring a bell.

I was watching this movie with my friend (Dr. Aditya Khetan) when he first correlated this fact with the tribal issues of my country. Its similar to the way mining companies work. Keep private illegal mines aside for once. Our public sector corporations are way ahead, doing what they want in the name on national progress. Doesn't national progress go hand in hand with the progress of the aam admi, tribals and every human in India? Take the example of Uranium Mining Corporation of India. Workers are forced to work without security, local people live with nuclear hazards, surrounding areas are filled with deformed children. Still the UCIL lives in denial.
check the report from tehlka on this case here http://www.tehelka.com/story_main46.asp?filename=Ne250910HIGH_GRADE.asp

I was happy to read a news item about the scrapping of an AVATAR like project on one of the sites. check the link here http://news.mongabay.com/2010/0824-vedanta_india.html

My main aim in writing these blog entries is to reflect on the state of my country. I don't give a damn about Hindus, muslims, shiv sena, raj thakrey, congress etc. I will try to think only about my country, as I wish to live my life here and I can't live in a dirty and troubled place.
